I was born in 1965 in Aachen, Germany, where the borders of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands meet. As everybody else born in these years I started to listen very early to bands like: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, T. Rex, Led Zeppelin, Feetwood Mac, Van Halen. But I also listened to songs from Johnny Cash and Chuck Berry, the great grandfather of Rock n Roll. Later when punk rock hit the streets I listened to the Sex Pistols, The Clash, XTC, UK Subs, The Damned, Generation X etc. I started to play guitar when I was about 14 years old. I had a teacher, who taught me how to play classical guitar mainly fingerstyle picking. Later I started to play electric guitar and played during high school in various bands in Aachen. My first electric guitar was a Fender Strat built in 1977. It was heavy as hell and hard to play. I played it through a Vox tube Amp. Today, I own a variety of guitars and some old tube amps. But I mainly use the Kemper Profiling Amp (KPA) on stage and in the recording studio, because it sound great and is easy to use. When I went to university I stopped playing guitar, but I never really quit completely. I started to pick up the guitar more frequently when I started to work. I got really back into playing when I worked in Toronto, Canada, the musical capital of Canada. Elliott, Vic and me had a little band going in Toronto. We met regularly in my basement and played songs from Deep Purple, The Doors, Kiss, David Bowie etc. Really fun times. That was also the time when I got into recording. My friend Elliott (keyboard/bass/vocals) and Vic (guitar/vocals) are really great musicians. They still play today. Whenever I am in Canada I visit my dear friend Vic. He is a great songwriter. Back in Germany in 2006, my good friend Dieter and me started a band called the Power House Band. Throughout the years we had some changes in our line-up, but since five or more years we are a bunch of friends covering great rock songs together having great fun playing in bars, clubs and other events. However, besides playing live, I still love to record guitar orientated rock songs together with other musicians. Since I am not the greatest singer I usually cooperate with lead singers, who contribute lyrics and lead vocals to the songs, which I mainly write. I am a little bit of a recording geek so that is why I usually mix and master these songs in my home studio before the songs are released to streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music etc. I really enjoy creating new songs and recording them with different people. That is why I will rock on.....😎😎🤪🤪...... and will write about this journey on my website. Keep creating and keep rocking BBB |
